Functions of various wings of the office are narrated as under:
Administration Section:
This section deals with personnel and managerial issues of the entire office including Branch Offices at outstations. Records & Bills Section:
This section is in charge of office maintenance and maintenance of records. Co-ordination Section: It co-ordinates the works among the various auditing units and deals with policy and all referred matters.
This section is also responsible for ensuring correct adaptation of systems framed for the purpose of audit under SMI, RAM, etc. by all the auditing units of the office.
Besides, the section is entrusted with the internal audit of all the units of the office as well.
Report Section: It Processes, finalises Draft Paras/Reviews for Audit Report and attends to further queries and Action Taken Notes thereon. Books & Appropriation Audit:
The section checks general books and connected documents, responsible for auditing and certification of the consolidated Appropriation Accounts,
Debt Head Reports, Finance Accounts and Capital & Revenue Accounts of East Coast Railway. Stores Audit:
Auditing of the accounts maintained by the Stores Accounts branch of FA & CAO`s office, reviews Stores Contracts/Purchase orders finalized by Controller of Stores.
Establishment & Provident Fund Audit: Auditing the transactions relating to establishment matters including Provident Fund Accounts maintained by the FA & CAO at the Headquarters of East Coast Railway. Expenditure Audit:
Responsible for audit of all departments of the Headquarters of East Coast Railway other than Stores, Commercial and Construction units in respect of all transactions other than those relating to salaries and other establishment matters. Performance Audit:
Responsible for conducting Performance Audit on topics selected by the office of the C & AG of India each year. Traffic Audit:
Auditing of station accounts including establishment matters and catering accounts. It also conducts local audit of the records of the Office of the Chief Commercial Manager including claim cases but excluding establishment matters.
Issues the Inspection Reports thereof and pursues them to finality.
Deals with audit of goods and coaching accounts both local and foreign and miscellaneous earnings which are dealt with in the Traffic Accounts Branch of the F.A. & C.A.O`s Office and reviews compensation claim cases.
Review cases of remission of wharfage and demurrage charges foregone by the Chief Commercial Manager and other higher authorities. Construction Audit:
Auditing the accounts maintained by the FA & CAO (Con) and undertakes local inspections of the offices of the Heads of Department and Sub-ordinate offices (Con) including survey organization.
Besides Annual certification of accounts of Capital works maintained by the FA & CAO (Con) of East Coast Railway. Construction Audit:

In addition the IT wing of this section looks after the IT Audit of the reviews received from the Head Quarters, submission of periodical returns as per Head Quarters guidelines and all other IT related work.
Rly. Electrification Audit:
This section deals with the Annual Certification of accounts besides audit (including local audit) of all transactions of the Railway Electrification Wing under CORE (Central Organisation for Railway Electrification),
Allahabad in so far as the works executed under the geographical jurisdiction of East Coast Railway are concerned. Workshop (Mancheswar) Audit:
Audit of all transactions including local audit and audit of Appropriation accounts, Finance Accounts and their certification pertaining to the Carriage Repair Workshop, Mancheswar is done by this section.
